Mr. Tim Walz, principal of Crown of Life Lutheran School, Colleyville, was recognized in a special ceremony at the school on Thursday, April 30, as a finalist for Educator of the Year.  Walz was chosen as one of six finalists out of more than 2600 educators in the Lutheran school system in the state of Texas.

One of his teachers said about Mr. Walz, "He has spent countless hours making our school a place that students can't wait to come to in the morning and a place that parents appreciate as a positive influence."

He has a great ability to connect with students of all ages.  He can command the attention and respect of middle school students while still joking around with them.

Another of his teachers commented, "Excellence is Mr. Walz's goal each day, and he helps the rest of us love coming to work each day."

A parent said how Mr. Walz helped a parent volunteer committee accomplish more than they ever thought possible through his leadership and encouragement.

Mr. Walz has been successful in whatever roles he has been involved with.   As a teacher, a coach, an athletic director, and as a principal he has "set the bar" very high and helped students and teachers to accomplish their goals.

He graduated from Valparaiso University in 1989 and began teaching at a National Blue Ribbon School.   He received exceptionally high rating from parents and students in annual surveys.   He completed the rigorous Lutheran Colloquy program in 1992.  He finished his Masters degree from Oakland University, Rochester Hills, Michigan in 1997.
