Our private Christian school started operation in 1996 and is founded upon the tradition of our church body's 150 year history of private Christian parochial schools. The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod operates the largest Protestant private Christian school system in the nation. The system includes 1,391 Pre-schools, 1,036 Elementary schools, 99 High Schools, 10 colleges and 2 Seminaries offering the finest in Christian education.
| 1995 | Crown of Life Lutheran Church of Colleyville, Texas is a young, vibrant and rapidly growing congregation. The congregation moved into their first sanctuary in March of 1995 on a site of 13 acres. In just one year the congregation had outgrown its first building, and in August of 1996 the education building with 6 classrooms, a library and an office was completed. | | 1996-1997 | Crown of Life Lutheran School began in August 1996 with 34 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Our first principal, Mrs. Emilie Weinke, was part-time and had two official office days. She volunteered to take this position with a meager salary to allow the school to get started. | | 1997-1998 | Enrollment up to 59 students | | 1998-1999 | Enrollment up to 65 students. Mrs. Ellen Malzahn was called in July to be full-time principal and teach second grade half days. Crown of Life was once again faced with the realization that it was quickly outgrowing the existing facilities. Plans were made to enlarge the sanctuary, add twelve classrooms, a fellowship area, new kitchen facilities and a large gymnasium. | | 1999-2000 | Enrollment grew to 75 students. Ground was broken for the new facilities. | | 2000-2001 | Enrollment up to 86 students. The school occupied the first floor of the new facilities. | | 2001-2002 | Enrollment grew to 140 students. Grades Kindergarten through Seventh grade are offered, as well as pre-school classes for 3 and 4 year olds. | | 2002-2003 | Eighth grade classes were added. Crown of Life became accredited by the National Lutheran School Accreditation Commission, which is also recognized by the State of Texas. | | 2003-2004 | Mr. Jeff Pool replaces Ellen Mazahn as Principal. | 2004-2005 | Enrollment grew to over 150 students. An expanded preschool program was added with PK 5 and an extended day option. Crown of Life Church & School began to host the monthly Colleyville Chamber of Commerce luncheon meetings. | | 2005-2006 | Crown of Life entered into an agreement with Lutheran Special Education Ministries to provide diagnostic and testing services for reading, speech and other services for students with such needs. Crown of Life's Spring Auction was also greatly expanded and became a community event through partnership with a local charity. | | 2006-2007 | Crown of Life added a Spanish instructor to strengthen our K-8 Spanish instruction and a band instructor to strengthen our 5th-8th grade band program. Crown of Life also became a WeatherBug station for Channel 8 news. |
