Academic ExcellenceCrown of Life recently received an "Excellent" rating by the National Lutheran School Accreditation (NSLA). The "Excellent" rating is the highest ranking a school can achieve under the NLSA. The NLSA is one of the few private school accreditations accepted by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), who also recently rated public schools. Crown of Life uses the Iowa Test of Basic Skills to compare our progress to schools accross the nation.

Religious Instruction Spiritual education is the foundation of academic life at COL.
Each week a chapel service is held for all students. Parents are invited to attend. Religious instruction based upon the Word of God is an essential part of every day. While our curriculum is from the Lutheran perspective, other Christian denominations will find their faith respected.
IOWA Rankings Crown of Life's over-all school average has consistently ranged in the 90th percentile on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, a national achievement test. This shows how our school compares to other schools across the country taking the same test. This is an extremely high average since the 50th percentile is average and the 99th percentile is the highest score given.
Accelerated Reader Program Accelerated Reader (AR) is a task-level learning information system. Here at Crown of Life we primarily use the Reading Practice Quizzes that cover most levels of reading ability. It is utilized as a reading incentive program to challenge students' reading comprehension and encourage them to higher levels of reading. We begin AR in First Grade. At this level children are allowed to take quizzes on books that have been read to them until they begin to read more independently. AR continues through 8th grade. Each teacher determines the class time to allow students to work the program independently or with volunteers. Students at every level accumulate points that have been assigned to each book. Points range from .5-point value up to 25-point value per book. Points may be accumulated and a reward day is set by class teacher. Rewards may include free homework pass, bring a stuffed animal to school, out of uniform pass, etc. For more information, you may contact your child's teacher.
